Wine tasting at Casale Vitali

For some of the best wine tasting in Italy join us at Villa in the Vineyard.  Not only can you walk through the vineyards on our land, you can also taste the award-winning wines produced by our neighbours, the Vitali family, a short stroll up the road.  They have been cultivating vines for decades but Gabriele Vitali decided that he wanted to produce their own wines from grapes they had grown themselves.  They now offer a full range of wines from Pecorino whites to Rosso Piceno red and both white and rose spumante. Gabriele runs the business with his wife, Elisabetta, and is still supported by his father, Giuliano. Their ethos is all about working with nature and respecting the land.  They follow sustainable methods by not using chemical sprays and using cut wild flowers and clover to enrich the soil.  The certification is called SQNPI (Sistema di Qualita Nazionale Produzione Integrata) and is the only certification for sustainability in Italian viticulture.

Elisabetta runs the most informative tour of the state-of-the-art winery with the best wine tastings in their traditional cantina - you have a choice of just trying their wines but best accompanied by aperitivi of local cheeses, cold meats and breads.  She can provide for vegetarians too and chidren are always welcome as she has three young boys herself.

Treats in cafes, bars and gelaterias

Part of the fun being in Italy is drinking a coffee with some biscotti whilst people watching, taking an aperitivo at a local bar in the evening or trying to choose the perfect combination of icecream flavours.  You are never be far from a cafe or gelateria here in Le Marche!

Local food shopping

Our local village of Montelparo has a butcher, a small well-stocked supermarket with deli counter and a great fresh pizza shop for made-to-order pizzas and the local speciality of stuffed olives. Further shopping at our favourite town Servigliano for artisan salami and proscuitto, local wines and fresh pasta shop for great gnocchi, egg tagliatelli or stuffed ravioli.

Cooking and dining at Villa in the Vineyard

We have set out a breakfast table with benches on the terrace to eat alfresco plus there is a covered loggia with large table and chairs for your use.  There are pots of herbs for your cooking. We can help you try some cooking in our outside wood pizza oven.

Roberto is a horticulturist and plantsman and will enjoy showing you around the garden and organic kitchen garden.  We are always happy to  share some of our vegetables and fruit when in season.
